Site Changes

You may have noticed some updates here on the Bar & Grill. This is the result of an informal New Year's resolution I made to try to do more with this site.

First, I've tried modifying the colors. I thought the green and yellow might've imbued a tacky lemon-and-lime look, so instead I've repeated the deep red and grey of the brick background in the main body of the blog. Does it look good, or is it too much red and grey? Should the yellow and green come back?

Next, please take note of the links over on the left. Previously Brian Clark was there all alone under Blogs, but now Rankin' Rob and William Smythe have rejoined that section. They'll fake me out by quitting their blogs and then returning a month later, I'm sure, but they're there for now. Make sure to go by Douglas Rushkoff's blog, as he has some excellent entries explaining how the subprime loan "scandal" worked, and how the movie and TV industry is shooting itself in the foot just like the record business did.

Under Music I pruned a few sites and added Royal-Orleans.com. This is a Led Zeppelin fan site where you can get great hardcore discussion of things like exactly when Robert Plant's voice began cracking, and why the Tempe `77 show was so bad. Under Radio I dumped Lee Abrams' blog because it was nothing but an infommercial. Only Radio-Info.com remains there, because the radio business is largely boring and dead.

A scroll of this page will reveal a lack of entries about angst over past scew-overs. Not that I don't have a few more stories to tell in that area, but I've realized this has turned into too much of a navel-gaze, so I'm trying to keep the topics more objective. I'm also gunning for keeping all entries under 750 words, the average length of a Dave Barry column.

Finally, perhaps you are a new member here, lured by the softcore porn of my new banner ads. Back when I was on the radio I promoted my little low-watt AM radio show on the Internet as though I was nationally syndicated. I haven't promoted this blog whatsoever. So I decided to correct that by creating these two banners that are in my signature on the forums I visit. The breasts belong to Tyra Banks, and they're possibly my favorites of all time. Thanks for the mammaries, Tyra! (Ha! Get it? Mammaries!)

Thanks as always for stopping by.

Mine. My weight is really out of control.

No, actually they're Tyra Banks'. That's my favorite picture of breasts ever. I bet Web surfers are disappointed when I lure them here with those boobs and then it's just a bunch of dull political talk.

(Hmm...note to self: more breasts.)

Try Jerry Del Colliano's Inside Music Media blog. That will give you the latest from the edge of the corporate radio tar pits.

Inside Music Media blog noted and added. I liked what he had to say in his Bob Grant entry. Thanks for the tip.
