Van Halen is Coming!

Classic Van Halen logo
Grossman at work told me Van Halen had already sold out two shows in Atlanta, one at Philips Arena and one at Gwinnett Arena. Fortunately I just found out he's wrong -- the shows aren't sold out! February 10 at Philips, February 25 at Gwinnett. Hmm...$49.50. So who's going?

If MA was part of the deal I would probably go. As it is I think I'll wait to see the DVD.

It's funny. I can remember standing in-line early some weekday morning at Turtles Records & Tapes so many moons ago waiting to buy Van Hagar tickets. At the time I couldn't believe it cost $18 and change for that ticket.

If you do decide to go I'd recommend Gwinnett over Phillips. The sound in Phillips is absolutely dreadful. I haven't been back since '99.

Looks like I won't have to worry about whether to go or not: no matter what configuration I choose on Ticketmaster they're not coming up with any tickets. The only options are auctions, which are starting at $170 for Gwinnett and are at $300 for Philips! I never realized Atlanta was that much of a Van Halen town!

I blame Jimmy Page. I got distracted by the Led Zeppelin reunion and didn't check into Van Halen-land for awhile.

But as you say...I've got a great-sounding bootleg, the You Tube videos, and a DVD will be out before we know it. I wasn't really going for the music, anyhow. I know those songs like the back of my hand. I was more interested to see what a crowd of mid-30's white males looks like. Maybe they'll add a third show and Michael Anthony will mend the fence by then.
