Normally today would be Fun Friday, but we had "fun" (i.e. Metallica discussion) Monday and Wednesday, so here's more political and economic strife to round out your week. I have to work Saturday through Tuesday this week, so it seems like a Monday to me, anyhow.I heard two interesting sets of stats on the radio one day last week. Taken together, I think they paint an interesting picture of my fellow Georgians:
From Forbes:
Georgia's Jobless Claims Jump in August"ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor reports that 59,090 laid-off workers filed first-time unemployment claims in August. That's a jump of 72 percent from August of 2007."
Wow! A 72% jump in jobless claims? Surely we need a change in leadership, right? Right?
Maybe not.
From WSB Radio:
McCain Leading Obama in GA by 18 points"(WSB Radio) -- The latest Insider Advantage poll shows Sen. John McCain with an 18 percentage point lead over Sen. Barack Obama in Georgia. Of the 500 likely voters polled, 56 percent say they support McCain compared to 38 percent who support Obama."
Good move, Georgia. I can hardly wait to be saddled with your choices.
