Meet William Smythe

There's a new blog at left that everyone should familiarize themselves with (if anyone remembers the URL for this blog). Meet William Smythe.

Hopefully I'm not dropping a bombshell, but William Smythe is a pen name, or keyboard name. Smythe is a part-time student, full-time administrative assistant and aspiring media star in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Best writing I've read since Rankin' Rob, and of course that's saying something.

How the hell did I make the acquaintance of an aspiring radio star in Minnesota? Well, creeping middle-age, frustrated dreams and a sense of directionlessness have opened the doors to all kinds of new acquaintances lately. A new nighttime radio star hit WSB-AM a couple of months ago and Smythe's blog detailing the assinine beavior of this new star while he was in the Twin Cities was all the talk on the Atlanta Radio-Info chat board (also at left). I found that entry to be a hoot and likewise enjoyed some of William Smythe's other posts. His self-description, "Bald, directionless, depressed," sadly resonated while also making me laugh out loud.

Smythe abandoned that old blog and has started this new one. Now, be forewarned: there are some Republican-sounding rants here and there, and I urge you to simply cover your eyes, reach for the scroll bar and scroll until you feel you are safely a few paragraphs down, and then you may begin reading again. You'll likely find yourself provoked to thought and also chuckling, a great combination.

And now not only have I turned you onto another great blog, I've proven once again that I'm alive!
