Christmas Haul
|
|
Hooray for the acquisition of material goods! You may say it's more blessed to give than to receive, but get real, you know nothing beats receiving! And I did some good receiving this year. Dad went out of his way to try to make this Christmas feel like the Christmases of yore, and between him and my aunt and myself, he did a pretty good job. Stuff Dad Got Me: - GPS Navigator: This little device is a lot better than I expected. I figured I could print directions from Rand-McNally.com and save money, but this thing does so much more. For instance if you miss a turn, it re-calculates and figures out how to get where you're going from your new location. It also closely monitors your speed and gives a really good estimate of your arrival time.
- Chris Rock DVD Kill the Messenger: I rented this one just about a month ago. Nice to have it on hand, though.
- George Carlin DVD It's Bad for Ya: This was George Carlin's last HBO show from just before he died. I've downloaded it and watched most of it before, but it'll be nice to watch the whole thing on a TV, and to just have the last video of George, one of my favorite people.
- George Carlin book Last Words: Carlin's autobiography that just came out. I was going to buy this when I found it on the $5.99 table at Barnes & Noble, but thanks to dad I can go ahead and read it now, and I have already read about half of it.
Stuff My Aunt Got Me: - Jerry Seinfeld DVD I'm Telling You for the Last Time: If this is the show I'm thinking of, it's not just a concert but follows him on the road in a documentary. This should be really interesting viewing.
- Blue Collar Comedy DVD: Larry the Cable guy was much funnier than I thought he would be when I saw him on the Jay Leno show. Not really much of a fan of the other guys on the DVD, but it's the thought that counts.
- Red Skelton DVD: It's the thought that counts, but in this case, I don't know what she was thinking.
Stuff I Got Me: It's amazing. I'm the best gift buyer in the world. I know just what I want. - Canon A1100SI digital camera: I can't believe a still camera and video camera fit in the palm of my hand, and they work so well. This thing is going to be a lot of fun.
- Rolling Stones, The Office, The Simpsons and The Police DVD's. I think I detailed all of these here before. Just watched one of the Stones ones and it was a really well-done show.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. |
