Why "Dancing with the Stars" is Fizzling

USA Today reports that Dancing with the Stars is losing viewers. The report mulls over a few possible reasons why and misses the obvious one: Cloris Leachman killed this show!

Last season, I think it was, two of the competing dancers were super-shapely salon owner and amateur porn star Kim Kardashian, and way-over-the-hill, 80-something-year old supporting actress Cloris Leachman. Anyone would know that the sight of Kim Kardashian wearing ever-more-revealing outfits week after week would be a surefire ratings-getter, whereas the appearance of Leachman's liver spots and varicose veins were a cue to change the channel. So who got booted within the first couple of weeks? Kim Kardashian! And who hung on until the last heterosexual male had been driven away? Cloris Leachman!

Sure you can say that the results are based on audience votes, but obviously the audience didn't have the savvy to keep the show on the air that the producers should've had. While Leachman might have appealed to the demographic that votes on TV dancing shows, she repelled the other 98% of the population. In this case the producers stepping in to fix the votes to retain T&A over Medicaid would've been the ethical thing to do.

Secondly, there's no more Julianne Hough. Cheryl Burke is perfectly attractive, but Julianne Hough lit up the screen and guaranteed that Kleenex and Vaseline would be strong stocks for the fall season. Now that Hough has gone on to sing country-pop pap, well, the results are in, and Dancing with the Stars is two stepping into oblivion.
