It's Not Over!

Well, well, what do you know? It's not over! Last night I sat down at about 9:30 and wrote a "gee whiz" post about how I guess Obama had won, and hopefully he would make an all right president. Within half an hour that post was unnecessary because the Hill had pulled ahead in Ohio and was at least even in Texas. Then this morning I see the old crow has rallied! Wins in Ohio and Rhode Island and at least a decent showing in Texas. You just can't ever count that old bird out.

The Saturday Night Live and Daily Show appearances she made last weekend helped, in my estimation. What a great idea: essentially a series of comical campaign commercials produced by NBC and Comedy Central highlighting how the press has kissed your opponent's ass while earning you the "warmth" and "likability" points that have eluded you. I only heard about the appearances when clips were shown on Face the Nation and This Week with George Stephanopoulos. I knew they would get played over and over for no charge, downloaded on You Tube, and would foment backlash for the magic carpet ride Barack Obama has enjoyed from the media. It's a great strategy that I'm sure will be emulated by others in the future. If the "serious" news media has it in for you, get points by going on comedy shows and laughing at yourself a little, particularly if you seem to be suffering from a shrew image. Those Hollywood connections sure came in handy.

By the way, I haven't even watched 1/5 of the SNL video linked above (banned by You Tube!). God, that show sucks these days. What horrible impersonations. That could be a whole entry in itself. I thank them for helping Hillary hold off the avalanche, though.
