Rick Santorum Did Not Lose Because of Butt Sex...

...Rick Santorum lost because he brought home a dead baby and let his kids play with it! BLEAH!

Upon their son's death, Rick and Karen Santorum opted not to bring his body to a funeral home. Instead, they bundled him in a blanket and drove him to Karen's parents' home in Pittsburgh. There, they spent several hours kissing and cuddling Gabriel with his three siblings, ages 6, 4 and 1 1/2. They took photos, sang lullabies in his ear and held a private Mass.

He and Karen brought Gabriel's body home so their children could "absorb and understand that they had a brother," Santorum says.

Wow, Art. That's low even for you. "He brought home a dead baby and let his kids play with it." A family grieves the loss of a child and all you can do is dance on the grave of Santorum's political loss.

You're an angry, confusing person Art. I hope you get things figured out one of these days. Best of luck to you.

Here's where I stand on this...

That the Santorums were allowed to bring their deceased baby home is highly unusual. And that they would want to is kinds weird too. BUT, as a dad that has lost two babies, I can attest that one is not at the height of their cognizant thinking at such a terrible time. There is no hell like the hell of losing a child. I know how I felt after two miscarriages, and being able to hold this dead baby had to be a hundred million times worse.

So, if the Santorums were a bit creepy and out of the mainstream with the way they handled this, so be it. I'll give them that.

Of course it had to feel awful, which is why I'm further confused why they would want to compound the hell by bringing it home, and showing it to their kids (Willougby seems offended I said "play with it," as though I'm suggesting a "Weekend at Bernie's" scenario. I'm counting hold it, looking at it, talking to it, whatever may have been done in the adjective "play")! How scarring could that be to the kids?

And yes, being able to take it home is reaaally odd. It couldn't possibly have been sanitary.

Honestly, being able to take it home couldn't have been legal, either, now that I think of it.

But in any case, I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone.

"Creepy", perhaps, but I'm willing to bet those kids will be in a better position to deal with the loss by having seen the child and called him by name rather than figure it out through whispered comments by relatives over the course of 15 years.
The difference bewteen Santorum and a lot of politicians is that you knew what you were getting with Santorum.
Don't like that? Think back to the KKK marching in Skokie. Isn't it better to have them out in the middle of the street rather than hidden from view while they plot and plan?
The difference is not always one of degree. How many politicians have disppointed you? All of them? Me, too. That's because they convinced me they were something other than the whore and hack they turned out to be. Eventually, I'm always wrong.
