I've skipped a couple of days in bringing you fresh reading material, despite having a freezer full of 20+ stories I could have/should have posted.
However this blog will be more interesting than ever in the future, because I'm still working on video! Right now I'm compiling a tour de force video of my high school band, Zen (yes, that seriously was our name). Later on maybe I'll even put up some videos of myself playing guitar in the present, depending on if I think I can handle the acidic criticism that greets any and every You Tube post.
In getting into this video stuff the people at the
Video Help.com forum have advised I should get a S-VHS machine off of E-Bay to ensure the best playback of my VHS tapes. Back when I interned with the video department at Home Depot and also at the cable TV station in Cartersville we had S-VHS machines, and I couldn't figure out where the "S," for Super, came in. Looked like regular old VHS to me. However I also didn't want to believe it when a sound guy told me a tube amp would sound better than the solid state POS I was using ("Sounds cheesy!"), and I wish I'd listened. I'm thinking on it.
Breakfast time.
2. Zen is a great band name.
3. YouTube quality will not do it for me. I demand the best possible DVD quality :-)
Also, I demand ALL raw footage. Don't pull a Jimmy Page and just give me the best of mixed together - I wall ALL existing footage at DVD quality!!

I guess Zen was a good name. Nirvana was going to be a great one, too, if it hadn't been for those bastards in Seattle!
The DVD I'm working on right now is from the earliest days with Rick Peregrine -- maybe I should call it "Peregrine Fire" in honor of the AC/DC Bonfire box set. It has a practice in Darren's basement, the Pope High School Battle of the Bands, the Kennesaw State Battle of the Bands and a slideshow. It's taken much longer than I expected to edit, but I think it will be a great synopsis of 1990-91.
