When I started this blog, I conceived of an online watering hole where I would be "bartender" and throw out topics for everyone up and down the bar to discuss. This came about because I realized that these days I don't think there are many corner "Cheers" type bars left, and people are probably just happy to make it home through traffic and sit in front of their computers at home, where the beer is cheaper, and read what everyone has to say on online forums and chat rooms.
However one day I was registering
Art's Bar & Grill.net and found out that there really
is an Art's Bar & Grill! Three of them, in fact.
I was going for .net because
Art's Bar and Grill.com takes you to a hotel bar in England. Their lease on that domain was almost up and I was thinking maybe I would snag it, but alas the Ramada people are on-the-stick and registered it again. So I figured I'd better grab .net before it disappeared.
Then I found there was another
Art's Bar & Grill in Riverside, California. This one serves seafood. They don't seem to have much of an online presence but I'm sure they're great.

The final Art's Bar & Grill, and the most popular judging by the number of hits my site gets from people looking for it, is in
Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. This one sounds like a real-world example of what I wanted this place to be: a blue collar bar with live music that's a favorite of the locals. If you came here looking for this place (and there's a huge chance you did), well, you're in the wrong place. But if you go there, or to any of these Art's Bar & Grills, tell them Art sent ya!
