Hello, blog readers!
Unless you're one of the 16 people who've subscribed to my blog feed, and are then one of the fraction who actually checks your Google Reader anymore, there is little chance you're going to read this post. So for the two of you left, how are you? Sorry I've been remiss in posting.
As previously mentioned over a month ago, I've been occupying myself with the world of podcasting. The
At Night podcast is going all right. I get about 50 listens per episode, which is pretty good, considering myself and my guests are not on any big-time TV shows, don't have a national newspaper column, or write for a big magazine. I've also gotten a fan letter from a guy in Poland, and a $30 contribution from a guy who does professional radio voice production in North Carolina. And on
Podomatic.com, the site that holds my MP3s, I've hit #7 in the Spoken Word category a couple of times, and there are definitely more than seven podcasts in that category.
This is all great and I'm appreciative, but I'm still not satisfied. I don't want this to be a "hobby;" I dislike the word "hobby," and I generally loathe the concept of hobbies, because "hobby" means "frittering your life away." No, I want
thousands of people enjoying this, discussing it, voicing opinions on it, and THEN...maybe I can get advertisers, and go pro!
For all of this to happen, I need to get better at it, and generate material that makes people eager to hit the Send and Share buttons and get others into it, and then they should follow suit. However, what constitutes an "improvement" in the world of sitting around and talking? I don't know.
If you've
listened to any episodes and have any ideas, feel free to share them.
